Chances are, you've seen her and her dog Bruce out at the Oceanfront—out in the water, no doubt. This owner and operator of Tula Adventure Sports in Virginia Beach says she was brought to Hampton Roads seven years ago in pursuit of love. Since then, she has definitely fallen in love with ocean and bay
How many years have you live in Hampton Roads?
What brought you here?
Brought here by the pursuit of love. Virginia is for lovers, right?
What is your main occupation?
Tula Adventure Sports owner/operator, standup paddleboard instructor, wakeboard/waterski instructor and kitesurf instructor
What are your interests outside of your career?
The ocean, traveling, sailing, relaxing with friends and a cold beverage.
Where is your go-to place for fun and excitement?
I love to take some friends on the Tula pontoon to Chick's Oyster Bar. We never have to wait for a table if we pull up on the boat, and I love the colors on the water when the sun starts to set. Also love to hear some live music at H2O, and occasionally make it over to open mic night at Casa Rana.
What is your favorite drink for the summer?
Grapefruit Crush from Chick's. But love a cold hefeweizen, maybe with a lil orange garnish. Yeah, I'm not afraid to put fruit in my beer.
The event youʼre most looking forward to this summer?
It actually already happened, Virginia Beach Paddle for the Cure. We hosted it at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel. It was a paddleboard race, float, and beach walk in support of Breast Cancer. I still can't get over how amazing all of our volunteers were that day. Awesome day.
What makes Hampton Roads so cool?
The water! We have it all: We can surf in the ocean, kiteboard or sail in the ocean and bay, and paddleboard just about anywhere. We can take a boat to restaurants. We can pull our dinner from the sea. We are surrounded by beautiful waterways. Plus, we have awesome restaurants. Plus, the cities pull some good music concerts in for us. Plus, the people are nice, oh, and active! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we are ranked as one of the top most active cities in the country. Did I mention the restaurants?
